Interning in a state Representative’s Office is a great way to learn more about the legislative process while gaining academic credit and experience for school. I am eager to welcome high school seniors, undergraduate, graduate students and recent graduates to apply for an internship in my office.
Applicants should have an interest in the American political system and the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. They should possess strong communication skills and work ethic. Ties to the district are preferred, but not required. While interns are unpaid, academic credit may be available depending on applicants’ educational institution.
Internships are offered during spring (January-May), summer (June-August), and fall (September-December) terms. Specific start and end dates as well as hours worked per week are flexible and can be adjusted for each applicant. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
Internships will be based out of my Mechanicsburg district office with opportunities to spend time at the Capitol when feasible. Responsibilities may include, greeting constituents, researching legislation and constituent issues, drafting constituent correspondence and helping execute events around the district.
If you are interested in applying for an internship, please send your resume to Clair Weigel at
