HARRISBURG – Rep. Thomas Kutz (R-Cumberland) announced $3.7 million in combined grant funding from the Local Share Account (LSA) and Public School Facility Improvement (PSFIG) grant programs. These grants were approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) today for projects that impact the 87th Legislative District.
“Cumberland County is among the fastest-growing counties in the Commonwealth, and our existing infrastructure needs to be improved or expanded upon to accommodate new residents,” said Kutz. “I proudly support the awards for the following projects, which make key investments in the community for current and future constituents. I am excited to see the impact of these diverse projects once they are completed.”
The LSA grants are as follows:
• Silver Spring Township, $101,840 for infrastructure improvements related to the renovation of the historic Junkin House, which will eventually serve as a museum.
• Silver Spring Township, $600,000 to construct a new public works building. Silver Spring Township is experiencing the highest growth rate in Cumberland County and is outgrowing its current facilities. LSA funds will be used to construct and engineer a 700,000 square-foot building, salt shed and fueling station.
• Greenlight Operation, $148,225 for purchases related to their restoration house, which will aid victims of human trafficking.
• South Middleton Township Municipal Authority, $90,000 to improve water and sewer services.
• Lower Allen Township, $457,466 for the Peyton Walker Foundation to purchase Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) for distribution to volunteers as part of its 4-Minute City Initiative.
The Public School Facility Improvement grants are as follows:
• Cumberland Perry Area Career and Technology Center, $330,000 to replace its failing HVAC system. PSFIG funds will be used for purchasing new equipment and installation.
• Mechanicsburg Area Middle School, $1 million to replace and improve its HVAC cooling system. PSFIG funds will be used for construction.
• Boiling Springs High School, $1 million to replace windows and complete internet connectivity projects. PSFIG funds will be used to purchase and install equipment, as well as cover construction and engineering costs.
Kutz worked collaboratively with Sens. Greg Rothman (R-34) and Mike Regan (R-31) to secure funding for the projects that benefit their shared constituencies.
“These infrastructure, public works and preservation projects are important to our community,” Rothman said. “I am pleased that so many residents will benefit from the grant funding authorized today.”
