Silver Spring Township Awarded State Grant for Road Improvements

This week, Silver Spring Township was awarded a Multimodal Transportation Fund (MTF) grant for road improvements along Main Street at the Village of New Kingstown.

Cumberland County is full of great communities in which to live, work and raise a family, and its population is among the fastest growing in the Commonwealth. I was glad to advocate for this project, which invests state dollars in an expanding community to improve roadways for current and future residents of New Kingstown.

The funding for these grants was approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA). CFA is an independent agency that holds fiduciary responsibility over the funding of programs and investments in Pennsylvania’s economic growth.

Catching Up with Cumberland Valley FFA Students

On Tuesday, students from Cumberland Valley FFA came to Harrisburg for a legislative breakfast and tour of the Capitol. It was great to show the group around the House chamber and learn more about the future generation of leaders in local agriculture.

It was also great to celebrate agriculture while meeting with members of the Cumberland County Farm Bureau and joining them for the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau’s legislative luncheon this week.

Silver Spring Elementary School Tours the Capitol

This week, several student tour groups from Silver Spring Elementary School visited the Capitol. It’s always great to have students and teachers in Harrisburg! I hope they all enjoyed their tour of our beautiful Capitol building.

Just a reminder this Saturday, March 30, is Mentored Youth Trout Fishing Day across the Commonwealth.

To participate, youth anglers (those under the age of 16) must have either a free Mentored Youth Permit or a Voluntary Youth Fishing License. More information about the mentored youth program, as well as a link to obtain a permit or license, is available here.

Next Saturday, April 6, is the first day of trout season. If you haven’t already, be sure to buy your fishing licenses and permits and get your gear organized. Visit the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) online at www.fishandboat.com or the FishBoatPA mobile app for more information.
