HARRISBURG – Rep. Thomas Kutz (R-Cumberland) announced that he will be introducing legislation to name the bridge carrying PA Route 34 over Mountain Creek in Mount Holly Springs Borough in honor of fallen firefighter Jerome Guise.

Guise, a 17-year firefighter with Citizen’s Fire Co. No. 1, tragically died when a house collapsed during a two-alarm fire on March 9, 2020.

“The loss of Jerome and his selfless service as part of the Citizen’s Fire Co. No. 1 is mourned throughout our community still today. My hope is that we can soon dedicate the ‘Firefighter Jerome Guise Memorial Bridge’ with permanent signage to forever remember Jerome’s bravery and sacrifice,” Kutz said.

Kutz circulated a memo to fellow members of the House indicating he will introduce the bill to name the PA Route 34 bridge as soon as soon as the Legislative Reference Bureau begins filing for the 2023-24 House Session. It was indicated to lawmakers in the memo that Kutz would like to see quick passage of the measure.
