87th District Unites to Combat Human Trafficking, Says Kutz
HARRISBURG ¬— State Rep. Thomas Kutz (R-Cumberland) Wednesday partnered with community leaders and Greenlight Operation, a local anti-human trafficking nonprofit to spread awareness and valuable information to the community.
Kutz first hosted a roundtable discussion with the president of Greenlight Operation; local law enforcement; pediatric care providers; hospitality industry professionals; municipal and federal elected officials; the offices of the Cumberland County District Attorney and state Attorney General; and others to share information to boost stakeholder awareness and response to human trafficking issues in Cumberland County.
Later, Kutz and Greenlight Operation partnered to host a community workshop that addressed how the public could protect themselves and others from becoming victims of human trafficking.
“Human trafficking is a major issue in our community, and we must do more to combat these abhorrent crimes,” said Kutz. “The first step to preventing human trafficking is to raise public awareness and educate people about the warning signs of trafficking. Collaboration between local, state and federal officials is imperative to addressing this crisis and Greenlight Operation’s expertise and training workshops are a great way for the public to learn how to help combat trafficking in our community. Together, we can work to make a real difference in the lives of victims, and it is amazing to see the 87th District come together to combat human trafficking.”
Kutz stressed the need for community organizations and local employers to get involved to stop the proliferation of human trafficking.
"It takes all of us getting involved to combat the fastest-growing criminal industry, and we are encouraged by the many who are collaborating to put an end to human trafficking,” said Jordan Pine, president of Greenlight Operation.
Greenlight Operation hosts free human trafficking seminars to schools, businesses, churches and other groups to prevent exploitation. For more information on Greenlight Operation and its important work, please visit greenlightoperation.org.
